(Belated) Happy Birthday!
Hope you had a fun day with various wacky misunderstandings and interesting subplots. There should also be something about people hiding in the dark to yell out "Surprise!" at you but you get stuck at work and they spend two hours hiding behind furniture before someone gets bored and eats the cake. Then you get home and mistake the shadows creeping around your house for burglars and accidentally stab your gruff-but-loveable boss. Then you have to take him to emergency but everyone at the party goes with you and your boss says he forgives you but is transferring you to a remote atoll in the North Atlantic. Then you say, "This is the best birthday ever!" and everbody hugs and the studio audience goes, "Awww..." Oh wait, I think this was an episode of Coach. Sorry, I frequently confuse what happens on TV with what happens in real life.

Dear Ezra,
Thank you so much for the greetings. There were no surprises at home or at the office. There was a lot of food though, as is par for the course here. The difference now than in my previous birthdays is the absence of liquor, or even beer. Instead we were eating all the time.
And how about you? How have you been out there in LA? I know that that town may seem so unlike Sudbury or even Toronto. The opportunities for you are however way better than if you were here in our part of the world. Anyway, I always say try to have fun in whatever it is you are doing, no matter how difficult the circumstances surrounding you may seem. I personally have gone through some serious shit, but I got to where I am because I tried not to lose my sense of humor, just like you.
