Phililppine Anime Festival

Last November 18 was a big day for Anime fans here when TOEI Animation Philippines held its 20th anniversary celebration. The event was a huge success, from the parade of TOEI's anime floats to the drawing contests and the voice-over competition. The highlight of the event was of course the COSPLAY competition. This year TOEI Philippines put up a P50,000 prize for the best COSPLAY performance. This is the first time I've been to this kind of contest. The players don't just parade around in their costumes like a pageant. They have to perform an action sequence choreographed to the theme music of their particular TOEI Anime show. I don't have a picture of the winner yet but Biboy says he'll get it from their network. The prize money went to the SHAIDER team. From the rousing performance I saw, they really deserved to win.
That's Biboy demonstrating his work to his main clientele.
These are characters from "One Piece", which is like Pirates of the Carribean only more outrageous, as only anime can.
I don't exactly know who these characters are, but they are classified as "magical girls".
More Magical Girls. (I'll have to ask Biboy who these people are supposed to be.)
Ah, a Japanese mech (probably malnourished, judging from the rather emaciated costume design.)
And of course, what kind of anime festival would this be without the fans?

The guy in the orange cowboy hat looks vaguely familiar. I think he looks like someone I know here, but I can't remember where exactly I know his lookalike from.

Yes, and the episodes here are more recent than the ones you see over there. TOEI USA takes longer to redub than we do down here. I think the picture with just two costumed girls are from that show.

This reminds me of the time I sacrificed my dignity for no reason at all, i.e. everyday.
