Nice fight
Belated congratulations to Manny Pacquiao for his 6th round win over Hector Velazquez. Condolences to Erik Morales, who provided another interpretation to his nickname when he lost by decision to Zahir Raheem. I have no doubt Morales would have won if he had taken Raheem seriously. At least Morales-Pacquiao II is still on, though Morales' loss probably took a zero or two from his projected paycheque.Kudos also to Brian Viloria and Rey Bautista for their victories.

Ray "Boom Boom" Viloria came home to a hero's welcome yesterday while Manny Pacquiao arrived a few hours ago with the requisite media frenzy.
The Pacman told reporters from ABS CBN that he began to worry after the stunning victories of the first two fighters. He knew he needed a convincing win.
I watched the Pacquiao and Morales bouts. Pacquiao still has poor aim which he makes up for with a swarming attack. That was why he couldn't win against somebody as crafty as Morales. On the other hand, Raheem must have hurt Morales' sense of Machismo more than anything else as he (i.e. Raheem) was incredibly unorthodox. I don't know how many times he fell to the floor because he kept crowding Morales, thereby negating the latter's usually accurate punching combinations.
Personally though, I wanted Raheem to win because that would introduce a bit of unpredictability in Pacquiao's weight class.

My apologies. It's Ray "Boom Boom" Bautista.

Pacquiao has only one direction when boxing: forward. It's no wonder Morales was able to keep him away with that jab of his. This time around he was fighting better, though he still had a tendency to square up after punching. Pacquiao is the kind of fighter who can win with one punch, as evidenced by that "Manila Thrilla Vanilla" (aka a right hook) he threw in the 6th.

As for the other half of "Double Trouble", I think Morales was so used to fighting machismo fighters like Pacquaio and Barrera that he's forgotten how to go against someone who boxes. His corner didn't help either, as the only advice his dad/second could give him was, "The ref's against us!"
